Something EVERY SINGLE Grand Cherokee owner should have is a recovery point on both the front and the rear, which could save you from a long night stuck in some ditch somewhere, just outside of cell phone coverage. Not only can you use a chain or cable come-along to extricate yourself, you can also toss a tow strap to another Jeeper to tug you out of the mess you’re in. Here is a video of what happens when you get stuck and don’t have tow hooks to tug from: This high-quality recovery tow hook set is CNC laser cut and bent (for accuracy) using the highest quality 1/4″ picked and oiled steel (which is a higher quality than hot or cold rolled) Built from one solid piece of steel, and then formed and welded, you achieve a force resistance which you just can’t achieve with several separate pieces welded together. By way of comparason, Mopar uses 3/16″ steel in their UpCountry recovery hooks (which is 25% thinner than this beefy set). This kit fits 1999 – 2004 WJ Grand Cherokees ONLY. Kit includes recovery tow hooks, mounting brackets, and all Grade 8 hardware needed to make it a simple and easy installation.
Even with thick 1/4″ steel and grade 8 hardware, it’s entirely possible to bend the tow hook mounting brackets IF used improperly. I strongly recommend reading Warn Industries Guide To Winching and Recovery prior to attempting any sort of recovery. INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS HERE
