ZJ Grand Cherokee Pimp-Daddy Gold Trim Removal

This is a quick and dirty copy/paste of a recent e-mail I answered.  I'll come back and make this pretty later on, but if you're interested in slapping the Pimp out of your gold-trimmed Limited, this is how I approached it.  I did this on my 1993 ZJ Grand Cherokee Limited...others will be similar.

There are a couple of things that you need to know. First, there are holes under the lower gold cladding strip of rubber. What I'd recommend is getting the black ones from a Laredo model (wrecking yard, your local stealership, or PepBoys) and gluing them on in place. That will save you HOURS of scraping off glue like I did, as well as cover up the holes underneath. Aside from that strip of rubber, most everything else is just a decal which is stuck on. Just use some heavy fishing line and work it back and forth like a saw...it'll cut the emblems right off. The 4x4 sticker will need to be removed either professionally, or by someone who knows more about it than I do, as I paid someone to do that for me. Lastly, the pinstripe can either be peeled off, or if it's painted on like mine, you can lay a pinstripe over the gold so that it's a new color. I chose silver.

I think that's about it. If you have further questions, you can check out www.jeepsunlimited.com 's forum archives or www.nagca.com 's forum archives. I think both of them have info on this.

Best of luck to you, and I hope you have a great day!

Very Sincerely,

Kevin
