Hi, Ben. Apologies for the trouble you’re having. Let’s get you fixed up!
First, I acknowledge that several of our install guides needs to be updated, and this one is no exception. The light bar uses EXACTLY the same mounts as the tire carrier does, so the images of the bracket should be identical. If yours are not identical, we may have another problem. Will you please e-mail us a photo of your tire carrier to sales at kevins offroad.com so we can verify you were shipped the correct parts?
On to the fitment issue…that’s “somewhat typical” of the XJ, specifically. For whatever reason, the rails were bolted on in slightly different spots on the roof of your Jeep. If you loosen the torx bolts that hold the rails to the roof slightly…just enough to be able to move them slightly side to side, they SHOULD align properly with the mounts on the tire carrier. Once the tire carrier mounts are tightened down, go back and re-tighten the torx bolts down where the rails currently sit, and you should be good.
Let us know how we can assist further, Ben…including sending us a photo to verify you rec’d the right part. All of our records show that you did indeed receive the right parts, and the fact that it’s JUST BARELY off also reiterates that feeling…but humans make errors sometimes, and until our warehouse and ordering process is replaced with robots, sometimes we goof up. At least let us verify that you rec’d the correct tire carrier, before you blow a gasket getting it to fit!
Thank you so much, Ben, and sorry for the trouble you’re having.
Very apologetically,,

Thank Kevin,
Loosening and scooting in the rails in worked great. Thanks for the quick reply and installation tip. Unfortunately, with the spare mounted, my Jeep now won’t fit in the garage! But that’s no fault of your product (blame it on the 4.5 inch lift)! Love the tire carrier.
Thanks again,
Ben
Ok, great…that’s awesome, Ben…glad you were able to get it mounted up!!
