KOR-1189 Bushing and Hardware upgrade kit

Due to the problem we were having with Death Wobble, we did some experimentation with stiffer aftermarket track bar bushings, and found we were able to cure the Death Wobble on our test rig after they were installed.  Armed with this knowledge, Kevin found a polyurethane molding company who was willing to build a mold and pour us the hardest track bar bushings that exist…at least 25% stiffer than the STIFFEST ones that we had the early success with…which will work in track bars built by Jeep/Mopar/Dodge, as well as MANY different aftermarket track bar manufacturers, so long as that bar has the “standard aftermarket track bar end-loop size”, which measures 1-1/2″ Inside Diameter and has a width of 1-3/16″. Measure your bar to see if it will work…it fits many different aftermarket bars, as well as our Track Bar Conversion.  This is perhaps the least expensive way to tighten up your steering system, removing slop, and perhaps even cure Death Wobble at the same time!

The result has been superior.  We have been able to cure our customer’s Death Wobble in most all cases with our SuperDurometer bushings, a new Hard-KOR steering stabilizer, and a proper alignment.

This kit is our KOR-1199 bushing kit, but adds two thick steel sleeves, two Grade 8 thick 9/16″ zinc plated bolts, and two all-metal prevaling lock nuts…one custom designed to include a lock tab to be placed on the axle side.  This is the kit to purchase if you have slightly ovalled-holes on your track bar mounting bolts, or if you want the best Death Wobble resistance possible.

All products in this Death Wobble Cure package are proudly American-Made!

Bushings are a “wear item”, meaning that they are specifically designed to wear out rather than the steel parts of the track bar or mount instead, and no bushing is going to last the life of your Jeep. However we offer a full 90-day customer satisfaction warranty on them. You should expect anywhere from 6 months to 6 years out of them depending on how hard you use the rig, and how wet/salty the climate is you’re driving in, and how perfectly aligned your front suspension is with regard to the track bar. Some of our customers are still running their set from years ago with no issues.

**Conventional petroleum-based lubricant or grease must NOT be used to lube or install poly bushings. These products will break down the polyurethane prematurely causing bushing failure. Please use only mineral-based lubricant, such as our KOR-1109 lube or a similar product from a poly bushing manufacturer.**

NOTE: 9/16″ drill bit needed for installation.

WJ Grand Cherokee Notes: This kit not necessary for installation on a JKS-127 bar for the WJ Grand Cherokee.  Use the sleeves the bar came with, and our KOR-1199 bushings instead unless you have damaged hardware and need to fix ‘wallowed’ bolt holes.

While these bushings will fit and function in the factory track bar for WJ Grand Cherokees, they were specifically designed for a JKS end loop which is wider than the factory bar. When installed in the factory WJ bar, the bushings will protrude slightly from each side of the track bar end loop and can wear prematurely. Bushings installed in factory WJ track bars are not considered as covered under warranty for these reasons.  We strongly recommend upgrading to the JKS bar on the WJ for many reasons.

JK Wrangler Note: On some factory JK Wrangler track bars, this kit is compatible with the UPPER bushings, but not the lower bushing.  If your upper and lower track bar bushings do not match in size, either install our SuperDurometer bushings ONLY on the frame side, or upgrade to a nice beefy JKS track bar at the same time, so you can run the SuperDurometer bushings on the frame AND the axle side.

TJ Wrangler Note: On factory TJ Wrangler track bars and on JKS Aftermarket Track Bars, this kit is compatible with the LOWER bushings, but not the upper joint, because it’s a ball joint.

**A note about retrofitting your ORGS, JKS, or other aftermarket track bar with our Super-Durometer bushings mentioned above: Many factory and aftermarket track bars come with rubber press-fit cartridge-style bushings installed, rather than the easily-replaceable method of using two poly bushing halves, inserted from each side of the end loop, and then sliding the included steel sleeve inside the bushings.  If you have the rubber-cartridge style bushings, then you cannot use the Super-Durometer 75D bushings without first removing that rubber cartridge bushing completely from your bar.  If you have one of these bars, then please order up KOR-1189-S kit INSTEAD, which includes the thick steel sleeves.

Dodge Trucks: **These bushings are NOT compatible with the factory track bar on 2008+ Dodge trucks, due to a change in the bushing size.**

  1. Recently after lifting my jeep I ran into the Death Wobble curse. replaced everything and was still getting it, ordered the WJ Secondary Steering Stabilizer system and it fixed my wobbles. I am still thinking my NEW IRO Track bar’s bushings are just not hard enough, as I can still feel a lil wobble but it does not go into a death wobble, more of a shimmy. So I will be ordering the KOR Super HARD Bushings and it should be golden! Thanks.

  2. Thank you for getting everything to me on time. I installed the Track Bar and disconnects. Went on my test drive to find my favorite pot holes… lol. Anyway the DW is gone road over the pot holes and not even a shimmy. The suspension feels like it’s working better than it ever has in the last 5 years. Can’t wait to use you guys again. I will be bragging on your parts and your service…you guys know jeeps. Thx again.

  3. I completely changed the rear suspension on my 03 WJ trying to get rid of this dreaded clunking noise. Nothing worked until now, thanks KOR great product.

  4. Recently I ordered a death wobble kit for my 2008 wrangler. Just wanted to let you know my mechanic was impressed to say the least. He said I should send you a shout out at for your quality, he does not easily impress. I told him that if the slim chance it doesn’t work you will work with him. Again thank you.

  5. I worked over the phone with Rob, from KOR, to troubleshoot a death wobble problem I had with my 04 Rubicon. I spent about $3000. And two years trying to fix it before working with Rob. He looked at all of the data I sent him, along with alignment print outs, and receipts for parts I had replaced and he suggested an upgraded front track bar, JKS, with heavy duty bushings. It did the job! I have not had any issues since replacing the track bar. These guys know their stuff!!!!

  6. Wanted to let you know that I received the steering stabilizer and it was installed and works great. Took care of the wobble. The old stabilizer had rusted and leaked fluid. Thank you for the great service.

  7. Hey guys, Good news…The alignment shop cleared up any remaining quirks the Jeep was having. Praise the Lord. I am very happy with steering and track bar set up. It no longer is pulling when shifting and it has a nice tight steering feel. That’s a win in my book, great job guys and thank you for all the help. Take care and God bless.

  8. Having the proper know-how when its crucial, knowing that Kevin and his crew makes any task a ton easier with its comprehensive jeepers knowledge. I am telling you with personal experience that you can rest assure that you will be taken great care of when dealing with KOR and so far my purchases have outlasted my Jeep’s life.

  9. I have a 2006 Rubicon Unlimited 4? lift 33 tires that I bought new. Death wobble started about 35,000 miles. I have tried several fixes and was just a band aid to the problem. I purchased the Hard Kor Death Wobble kit and the ORO U Turn steering kit and installed them last weekend. Death Wobble is totally gone I can’t even get a little shimmy in the wheel at any speed. Drives down the highway better than new. Thanks Kevin.

  10. I’ve been running Kevin’s Trackbar conversion on my ZJ for a long time now, well over 10 years, and have been a very happy customer. Earlier this summer I noticed some play in the adjustment area on my trackbar that was pretty unsafe. So I called up Kevin to get another bar to start getting the ZJ safe to drive again. The install is fairly straightforward, and went pretty smooth. Even though I bought the original trackbar conversion 10+ years ago, KOR was still able to get me the separate components I needed to handle my jamb nut issue. I haven’t got it out on the trail yet as the snow is starting to fly in the mountains here in CO, but am looking forward to the front being tighter on the trails next year!

    Hi Rick,

Unfortunately we do not have a replacement bushing set for the stock JK track bar. In mid 2007, Chrysler changed bushing sizes on the Wrangler and Ram trucks to a mismatched bushing size.

As far as we are aware, there is not a manufacturer who makes a replacement set for e...

Hi there, these will not work with a Rough Country track bar. The bushings are a slightly different size.

This kit will not work with Rough Country track bars, due to a small difference in the size of the bushing.

    Hi Casey,

These parts will work with the factory track bar on an XJ, although only on the axle side, as the frame side of the bar is a tie rod end.

The correct parts to use for the XJ, ZJ, and TJ factory track bar are our KOR-1179, and KOR-9906-HW kits and they can be found at the f...
